My first Friday in Israel I ended up coming in the right timing of the Gay Pride parade in Tel Aviv. This event attracted over 180,000 people from all over the country including people who came from different parts of the globe. I didn't know what to expect as i never saw or had been to a gay parade in my life but I was open to experience how it would take place in Israeli society. I did not go to the parade but I did go to the concert Friday afternoon.
A picture showing the concert:
For Friday, my first full day in the country, my initial plan was to get a full Tel Avivian experience where I would go to try out some of Carmel Market famous street food and sweets, graffiti tour in the Florentine area, visit museums and book shops, search for handcrafts, drink dark roast coffee in a nice coffee shop and of course later proceed to friday night service at the nearest synagogue that is walking distance from where i am staying. That planned sounded perfect! but in reality the joy and excitement of the pride ate the normal Friday day runnings of the city and added a unique, bright and vibrancy twist to it.
The concert toke place in Yarkon Park.
