History of the Jews in Mississippi


Genealogist Tom Wixon spoke Thursday night for the Western Shore Torah Study in Mississippi. He told his personal story of his search for his Jewish roots.

Sandy and Amy then added on their Jewish origins in small town Mississippi. It was fascinating.

Marks & Boys -- The photo below shows Mordechai Sokolosky & his sons Raphael, Israel, William.

The gold medal is for saving Yellow Fever victims at Vicksburg in 1878.

The Prayer Book is at least three generations before Marks who was born in 1832.

The Alsace, Rosenwiller books are examples of books available when doing European research, the Naturalized Jews book covers the Jews of Posen in 1834 where names where taken.
