Retired entertainment attorney Steve Katz will present “The Golden Age of Television” at Temple Beth Shalom of the West Valley.
“The Golden Age of Television” will be presented by retired entertainment attorney Steve Katz 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21 at Temple Beth Shalom of the West Valley, 12202 N. 101st Ave. A long-time Temple Beth Shalom member, Katz an attorney to the stars for 30 years in Los Angeles, specializing in the motion picture and television industries. He will travel down memory lane with a medley of TV themes from the 1950s and Golden Age memories from Ed Sullivan, Milton Berle, Sid Caesar, Burns & Allen, "American Bandstand" and more. During his career Katz represented writers, directors, producers, actors and entertainers including Dick Clark, Cher, Donald Sutherland and Michael Crichton. Now retired and living in The Grand in Surprise, he teaches classes as part of Rio Salado Community College’s RISE Learning for Life program about the history of television and motion pictures. He also has taught about the history of stand-up comedy. “The Golden Age of Television” event is a tribute to the late Temple Beth Shalom president Jonathan Werbel, who died in October.
